NEW DATE Wed 27th Nov 7pm – 9pm
On this 2 hour course we will teach you all about epoxy resin. The 1 to 1 epoxy resin we use is low odour, non-toxic and doesn’t contain dangerous solvents.
During the workshop you will make a number of pieces of jewellery or keepsakes using our huge collection of molds.
Resin is so versatile – you can colour it with powders and inks, add glitter or shimmers, embed things in it – the only limit is your imagination!
The resin pieces will take 24 hours to cure (set). So your pieces will be finished by us and posted out to you a week after the course.

Discover the wonderful and messy art of Resin on this six week course. Each week will feature a different technique to master this popular craft.
Friday 24th July
On the first session you will receive a your own resin makers ‘kit’ to use over the next 6 weeks and then take away with you at the end of the course. This will include a set of silicon molds, a rubber protective mat, measuring cups and stirrers, sandpaper, polishing cloths and your own bottle of epoxy resin and hardener.
We will discuss the properties of resin and why we choose to use epoxy. We will learn how to measure and pour resin, plus how to colour it. Our aim in this session is to pour at least three pendants, a brooch and two pairs of earrings. We will be leaving these to cure over the next week ready for session 2.
Friday 31st July
In session two we will be demolding our resin from session one. We will learn how to sand, polish and finish our resin pieces and turn them into wearable works of art.
we will then design and pour a chunky resin bangle with inclusions (items embedded in resin) to finish in session three.
Friday 7th August
In session three we will be polishing and finishing our chunky bangle. We will then be working with a two part silicon to make our very own resin molds to use in session 4.
Friday 14th August
In this session we will be using our molds from session three to make our own unique pieces. We will also be using specialist jewellery findings that are backless, to test our new resin pouring skills.
Friday 21st August
In session five we will be finishing our pieces from the previous week. We will also be using a very fun UV resin that cures in 5-10 minutes under a specialist lamp.
Friday 28th August
On our final session we will using larger amounts of resin to create either a canvas picture or a set of matching coasters. This method is similar to acrylic pour painting and is very messy but also extremely good fun.
After completing this detailed 6 week course you will be well on your way to becoming a confident resin artist.
This course is suitable for complete beginners or those who would like to progress their skills learnt on our 2 hour Beginners Resin workshop.
Our Crafting with the Magpies events are our most popular workshop of the year. It involves a super busy day of 5 crafts in one day and a lovely fresh buffet lunch. WOW!! Yes, we are that excited we needed to put it in capital letters. These crafts have been specifically chosen to work within a hour time frame each. You need absolutely NO crafting experience at all to join in. All materials are provided and each craft has a specialist tutor to help and guide you through each session.
On arrival at 9.30am at The Flour Mill Studio (there is a flight of steps to climb to access the studio), you’ll be greeted with a tea or Prosecco and a good lump of cake. We’ll start with a brief introduction and plan of the day.
At 10.15am we’ll start our first craft, you will be working in groups of 6 – 8 per table, but you will do your craft individually. You will have a 15 minute introduction and demo of each craft and then 45 minutes to complete your item. After an hour at each table, the gong will sound and it’s time to move to the next craft!
We will break at half 12 for a well deserved light lunch provided by a lovely local cafe (cake is 100% involved).
At 1.30pm we will continue with two more craft sessions until 3.45pm when we will stop for a glass of Prosecco or a nice brew (and of course more cake).
4.30pm will be the start of our final craft and at the stroke of 5.30pm the final gong will sound and it’s time to relax, with a good cup of tea of course. You will be very welcome to chat to our tutors about the crafts from the day and ask any questions. We use this time to have a look at all the lovely work completed throughout the day.
