Resin Jewellery & Keepsakesfrom £35.00
On this 2 hour course we will teach you all about epoxy resin. The 1 to 1 epoxy resin we use is low odour, non-toxic and doesn’t contain dangerous solvents.
During the workshop you will make a number of pieces of jewellery or keepsakes using our huge collection of molds.
Resin is so versatile – you can colour it with powders and inks, add glitter or shimmers, embed things in it – the only limit is your imagination!
The resin pieces will take 24 hours to cure (set). So your pieces will be finished by us and posted out to you a week after the course.
Crafting With The Magpies 11th July 2020 10am – 5.30pm£65.00
Our Crafting with the Magpies events are our most popular workshop of the year. It involves a super busy day of 5 crafts in one day and a lovely fresh buffet lunch. WOW!! Yes, we are that excited we needed to put it in capital letters. These crafts have been specifically chosen to work within a hour time frame each. You need absolutely NO crafting experience at all to join in. All materials are provided and each craft has a specialist tutor to help and guide you through each session.
On arrival at 9.30am at The Flour Mill Studio (there is a flight of steps to climb to access the studio), you’ll be greeted with a tea or Prosecco and a good lump of cake. We’ll start with a brief introduction and plan of the day.
At 10.15am we’ll start our first craft, you will be working in groups of 6 – 8 per table, but you will do your craft individually. You will have a 15 minute introduction and demo of each craft and then 45 minutes to complete your item. After an hour at each table, the gong will sound and it’s time to move to the next craft!
We will break at half 12 for a well deserved light lunch provided by a lovely local cafe (cake is 100% involved).
At 1.30pm we will continue with two more craft sessions until 3.45pm when we will stop for a glass of Prosecco or a nice brew (and of course more cake).
4.30pm will be the start of our final craft and at the stroke of 5.30pm the final gong will sound and it’s time to relax, with a good cup of tea of course. You will be very welcome to chat to our tutors about the crafts from the day and ask any questions. We use this time to have a look at all the lovely work completed throughout the day.
The 5 crafts we have chosen for this event are:
Needle Felted Mouse
Paper Quilled Card
Beaded Earrings or Memory Wire Bracelet
Watercolour Mini Picture
Geometric Concrete Coaster or Plant Pot.
If all of this excitement isn’t enough we have one more surprise! Every event attendee will receive a branded Two Little Magpies badge, cotton bag and notebook, just perfect for taking your finished crafts home in.
The light lunch will consist of fresh sandwiches and salad plus savoury and sweet nibbles. Please let us know of any dietary requirements as we are inclusive to all and will cater for all and any needs.
Under 16’s are very welcome as long as they are accompanied by a fully paid adult. Unfortunately we cannot take under 8’s for these events.
Free-Machine Embroidery with Sarah Sewellfrom £38.00
2020 dates now available.
Free-machine embroidery has been described by Kirsty Allsopp as ‘the crack cocaine of the crafting world!’ and we have to agree – it is VERY addictive!
Sarah’s workshop will introduce you to this fascinating art form – it can be described as drawing with your sewing machine. This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners (no previous sewing experience required) but is also great as an introduction to a different sewing technique for more accomplished machinists or as a refresher for those that have tried free-machine embroidery before.
You will learn how to set up a sewing machine ready for free-machine embroidery and can have fun practising doodling and ‘writing’ onto fabric. Once you have mastered the basics, you will design and create your own framed textile picture using free-machine embroidery & appliqué techniques.
There will be a selection of fabrics available for you to use in your appliqué design, but you are very welcome to bring your own fabric if you prefer.
At the end of the workshop you will be able to set up a sewing machine for free-machine embroidery and have the knowledge to create your own textile art at home.
Information regarding suitable fabrics and threads etc and where to buy them will also be given to you.
You don’t need to bring anything with you as all tools and materials/equipment will be provided. However, please do feel free to bring your own fabric scraps & photos or pictures to provide inspiration for your framed picture.
Beginners Paper Quillingfrom £32.00
Paper quilling lets you coil and shape colourful strips of paper into beautiful works of art. This art form looks complicated and fiddly but we PROMISE you it is not as hard as it looks, and we consider it completely suitable for an absolute beginner.
Quilled projects are light, delicate and look very intricate. They give a strong sense that someone has put a lot of time in making them. We will provide a large selection of templates to choose from and a lovely box frame to mount your finished work. You will also leave the workshop with a quilling tool and a fine glue applicator to continue your new craft at home.
All materials are supplied plus beverages and light snacks.
