Dorset Button Makingfrom £26.00
Dorset Buttons originate all the way back to the 18th century. Before plastic was used in buttons, folks would use very thin slices from animal horn to create buttons for thick wool coats.
We don't use the traditional animal horn method in this workshop, but we will show you how to make a lovely button from modern materials. Lisa has mastered the art of the Dorset button making and will show you how to create a basic crosswheel pattern that can lead to more elaborate designs if you wish to continue the craft. (We are warning you, it is VERY addictive!)
Lisa will provide everything you need for the workshop PLUS a lovely pack to take home with you that includes everything you need to make another button.
Our teaching methods are very relaxed and we are often complimented on our welcoming environment, so please don't feel unsure about coming along on your own to one of our courses. We provide lots of tea, coffee and fun!
